A new semi pro soccer team representing the Alamo city called Genova FC San Antonio, will play their home games for the 2017-18 inaugural season at Wheatley Heights Sports Complex, the club announced today.
“We are very excited to have found a home for our club”, said John Rexroat, Co-owner and GM for Genova FC San Antonio. “The complex is simply amazing and we can’t wait for the season to start and rock our first home opener”.
The $10 million stadium can hold five thousand spectators and it was funded by Bexar County and the City of San Antonio. The stadium has hosted hundreds of club and high school soccer matches, football games, and track meets since 2012.
GFCSA will hold a tryout on April 30 at Wheatley Heights in preparing for their inaugural season in the Texas Premier Soccer League (TPSL). The club plans to host their first tournament in August, the Genova Cup.
