TPSL add FC Waco for 2018-19 season

The Texas Premier Soccer League (TPSL) announced today its newest franchise – FC Waco. The club operates out of the Waco area, and represent the Heart of Texas region and McLennan County. FC Waco is slated to kick off in July 2018 with the Salutation Shield, a friendly tournament with the Galveston Hurricanes as well as two other teams yet to be announced.

“It is truly amazing to be a part of this great league,” said Jarrod Barton, President of FC Waco. “I’m excited to see what this club will bring to our community and how we can impact our city in a positive way.”

The addition of FC Waco brings great excitement to the City of Waco and the Texas Premier Soccer League.

“The TPSL is proud and excited to welcome our newest franchise to the league,” TPSL President Brendan Keyes said. “In a very short amount of time, Jarrod has shown a tremendous ability to achieve great things. FC Waco is a club with purpose. Since day one the club and its President have been working hard to help the league achieve the goals we have long been striving for.”

The TPSL is a men’s outdoor soccer league featuring eight premier sides from across the state. The league season runs from September to March. All clubs registered to play with TPSL have an opportunity to qualify for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through sanctioning by US Club Soccer, of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).

“Today is an exciting day for our organization. Our ownership is proud to bring a Texas Premier Soccer League franchise to McLennan County. Waco soccer fans have long been under-served and the wait is over,” Barton said. “We are also excited to find a new home for the beautiful game in Waco, TX, and look forward forming lasting partnerships with the local business in this great community.”

TPSL Expansion information

Hello teams! Some important news about TPSL that teams thinking about coming in our league should know. First off our goal is to have two divisions in our league – keeping our goals challenging, but attainable. We will set new goals as we grow.

Cost to enter the TPSL Premier Division for 2018-19 season is $2,500. Once we reach our tally on teams we will promote a Championship Division which will cost $1,500 per team with the opportunity of promotion to the top division.

The team that wins the TPSL Cup will receive a $3,000 check.

The winners of TPSL Championship will win $1,500 and promotion to TPSL Premier Division. We want to be the first to have promotion and relegation in a league across this great State of Texas.

Referee fees in TPSL are $200 per game to be paid by the home team.

We are sanctioned by US Club Soccer, therefore, all teams can play in US Open Cup. We also have our own Texas State Cup.

TPSL welcome back Houston Regals

Texas Premier Soccer League is pleased to announce the return of Houston Regals SCA. The Regals SCA are a big name in Texas soccer having a strong program from youth to their NPSL side. Houston Regals Reserves will field some of those NPSL players in TPSL.

League president Brendan Keyes said today, “we are delighted with the news that Regals owner Miguel Landaverde and his club have decided to come back after a five year absence.”

Unlike most other national and regional leagues the TPSL runs a longer season similar to the European calendar. The season begins in September and ends in April.

Miguel Landaverde, owner of the Houston Regals, commented on the return saying, “we played in the TPSL in it’s first year and won the championship. We wanted to move up and play at a national level and Brendan recommended NPSL as his team Galveston Pirates had played at that level.”

Landaverde continued saying, “moving forward five years later our program has grown and we decided the time was right to play in both leagues. Brendan runs a strong and professional league. Teams like Austin, Twin Cities have been around from the first or second year; it shows stability. I’ve spoken to Brendan about what his goals are and he said TPSL is not trying to have 100 teams like other national programs; they are just trying to give Texas clubs a chance to play at a high level without the high expense that comes with playing on national level.”

Quest For The TPSL Cup Begins This Weekend

Two trophies have been awarded already this season in the Texas Premier Soccer League. Newcomers Central Texas Lobos FC captured the Texas Cup in late January and unbeaten Twin Cities FC (5-3-0) recently secured the TPSL Shield for the first time.

Now four teams will begin the playoff for one final trophy – the TPSL Cup. In the semifinals teams will play a two-leg total goals series with winners advancing to the final.
